Olympic Gateway Private Room: Patio, Fire Pit, Creek/Lake Access

1 Bedroom • 1 Bath • Sleeps 1-2
Allows pets Internet River Forest (more...)

1 bed, 1 bath (ensuite, guest use only), 300 sq ft.

The guest suite features a pillowtop double bed with high thread count cotton linens and ample drawer space to spread out during your stay. A 40” Smart TV provides access to cable as well as streaming services. A full closet with built-in organizers houses spare linens and pillows. The windows look out into the dense wetland forest where you may be greeted by rabbits and the occasional deer brave enough to venture into the clearing. Drift off to sleep with the calls of the local barred owls deep in the woods – particularly in the fall.

The ensuite features a walk-in custom shower with three shower heads – massage, hand-held, and a rain head -- and independent temperature vs. volume controls. The glass shower door provides a bright modern setting while the screened window helps open the room. Plush white towels and a lighted mirror create a spa-like setting.

A shared kitchen is available for light meal prep, sporting the standard microwave, oven with built-in air fryer, dishwasher, and refrigerator, as well as an automated espresso maker. A steam washer and dryer is also available during your stay.

Outside the kitchen is a large patio with sectional seating for 4 and a 6-person patio table under party lights, tucked into a cove in the wetland buffer. Nearby is a large (20’x25’) kennel for guests bringing dogs to enjoy the nearby dog-friendly hikes of the Skokomish Wilderness and Olympic National Forest. Outside the guest suite, at the forest’s edge, is a smaller patio containing a 6’ half-moon propane fire pit to help warm those chilly Olympic evenings through shimmering fire glass. For rainy days, a covered porch allows you to take in the forest while staying dry. An extensive fruit and berry orchard provides seasonal access to apples, pears, plums, cherries, nectarines, peaches, figs, hazelnuts, almonds, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, cranberries, strawberries, and, if we are lucky, Saanichton kiwi.

Just off the guest suite, a salt-and-pepper granite path enters the forest, transitioning to a forested trail winding its way down to Mill Creek, just ¼ mile downstream from Lake Isabella. Here, the creek is 50’ wide, and hand-launched non-motorized vessels (eg, canoes and kayaks) are permitted. The stretch of creek between our property and the lake is conservation land and does contain a beaver dam; however, kayakers are generally able to carefully navigate over the dam and out into the 200-acre lake which also boasts a state park and public boat launch. Our wetland is critical for maintaining water quality for the local shellfish industry; access is confined to the trail and creek access needs to be gentle. But if you pause for a moment along the shoreline you’ll be rewarded as wildlife begins to stir from their hiding places. Songbirds, rabbits, deer, voles – yes. But also river otters, beavers, ducks, cormorants, and owls. Mountain lions and coyotes are possible, and salmon do run Mill Creek.

Olympic Gateway provides a private guest suite on 11 acres with easy freeway access on one side and an idyllic creek side preserve on the other. We welcome you as you explore the southeast forests of Olympic National Park.
